Recently I ordered this vintage mail order pattern online. Cost: $6.50. I probably wouldn't make it floor length since a knee length dress has more wearability but I liked the idea of holding in the fullness of the dress with ties. I plan to use a drawstring under the bustline instead of elastic. Apparently Laura Ashley had the same idea as I found this McCalls pattern today on sale for 99 cents. In fashion, nothing is really new!

Hey Diane, check out the new releases from McCalls, Vogue, you name it--they are chock full of variations of this dress. How I wish I had kept all that stuff from the 70s....

Me too! I can hardly believe that I once gave away those dress patterns from the 70's. My favorite had an elastic waist and extended shoulders with draw strings. Yes, I'm waiting for JoAnn's to put Vogue on sale for $3.99 again. Thanks, Juliane!
